Give Us Souls

A revived believer develops a burden for people who do not know Christ. Soul winning is not the responsibility of pastors alone; every believer is called to care about souls and participate in the harvest.

Scripture

Romans 9:2–3 KJV — “That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren…”

Reflection

Paul’s passion was not merely for ministry success. He carried people in his heart.

There are five things every soul-winning believer needs to know:

1. Every Soul Matters To God.

People are not numbers. Every person has eternal value before God. Jesus came to seek and save the lost.¹

2. Souls Are The Real Harvest.

Buildings, programmes, finances and attendance have their place, but the greatest harvest is people coming to Christ. Jesus said, “The field is the world.” (Matthew 13:38)

3. Soul Winning Requires A Burden.

You will rarely pursue what you do not care about. Paul had “great heaviness” and “continual sorrow” for people who were lost. We need God to put people back on our hearts.²

4. Every Believer Can Win A Soul.

You do not need a pulpit to reach someone. You can witness to a friend, neighbour, colleague, student, relative or stranger. Your testimony can become someone’s doorway to Christ.³

5. Soul Winning Must Become A Lifestyle.

We should not wait for evangelism programmes before we talk about Jesus. Pray for people. Look for opportunities. Invite people. Share the Gospel. Follow them up. Help them become disciples.⁴

HighCity must become a church where souls are prayed for, sought after, won, discipled and established.

Our prayer must change from: “Lord, bless our church.” to “Lord, give us souls.”

• Give us people who are far from You.
• Give us families that need salvation.
• Give us young people who need hope.
• Give us neighbours who need Christ.
• Give us divine opportunities to reach them.

LORD, GIVE US SOULS!

Today’s Prayer

Father, give us a heart for souls. Open our eyes to the people around us who need Jesus. Remove our fear, indifference and excuses.

Give every member of HighCity the courage and compassion to share the Gospel. Bring people across our path whom we can lead to Christ. Make us faithful witnesses at home, at work, in school, in our communities and everywhere we go.

Give us souls, and help us disciple everyone You bring to us. Let HighCity become a soul-winning and disciple-making church. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
