We are aware that the Lord is still interceding for us at the right hand of the Lord. This is the ministry of the Lord now; which emphasizes the importance of prayer. Prayer plays a major role in our victorious walk with the Lord.
Romans 8:341 NLT — Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.
Now, the question is if Jesus Christ is praying and pleading for us at the right hand of the father where he is seated, then why should we pray? Indeed, we should pray because he wants us to watch and pray with him. At least he wants us to show our commitment by spending an hour with him in prayer. One day while on earth, the Lord entered into the garden of Gethesame and there prayed; he went with his disciples and expected them to pray and watch with him. Learning to spend at least an hour with the Lord in prayer from time to time, will save you from temptation.
Mark 14:37-392 NLT — Then he returned and found the disciples asleep. He said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour? [38] Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” [39] Then Jesus left them again and prayed the same prayer as before.
I exhort you to spend an hour this day to watch and pray with the Lord. Let us commit ourselves to this ministry and reap the rewards that come with it.

But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all. And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray. And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy; And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch. And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt. And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour? Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak. And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words. And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him. ↩︎
