There are some things Google, TikTok and university cannot teach you as a young woman. Some wisdom can only be transferred through godly women who have lived it.

Titus 2:4–5 gives older women a responsibility: to teach younger women how to live godly and fruitful lives.1

1. How To Love Your Husband

Remember, love is more than feelings. It requires that we learn patience, forgiveness, communication, respect and commitment. Young women must learn how to build love, not just how to find it.

2. How To Love And Raise Children

You need to learn how to raise children from women who have raised children through different seasons. Learn discipline, nurturing, boundaries, prayer, patience and consistency. Don’t wait until you have children before learning how to raise them.

3. How To Be Self-Controlled & Sober

Learn how to control your emotions, words, desires, spending and reactions.

A woman who cannot govern herself will struggle to govern the responsibilities God places in her hands.

4. How To Live With Purity; To Be Chaste

EVERY YOUNG LADY needs to learn how to protect her body, reputation, relationships, and spiritual life. Older godly women can teach younger women how to maintain boundaries in a culture that constantly removes them. Remember that how you carry yourself matters a lot.

5. How To Build And Manage A Home

I wish I could trumpet this point. Building and managing a home isn’t teaching women that they cannot pursue careers or businesses. It emphasizes the importance of taking responsibility for the home and making it a place of order, love and peace.

You must learn cooking, organization, hospitality, budgeting, homemaking and creating a healthy family environment.

6. How To Be Kind Or Good

Kindness is a skill that must be learned. You will do well when you learn how to disagree without being disrespectful, correct without humiliating, and serve without seeking applause. Character makes a woman beautiful long after physical beauty changes.

7. How To Live Under God’s Word

The ultimate goal isn’t simply to become a good wife or successful woman. It must be to become a godly woman whose life makes the Word of God attractive.[^2]

Don’t only look to older women for money, connections and opportunities. Look for women whose marriages, character, homes and walk with God demonstrate something you want to become.

I must say to the older women, not to just criticize the younger generation but also teach them. Wisdom that is not transferred can die with the generation that received it. Every young woman needs a godly woman ahead of her. Titus 2 shows us that godly wisdom is meant to be transferred from one generation to another.[^1]

Every young woman needs a mentor, and older women need to become mentors. The Church needs the bridge between generations.

[^2]: Titus 2:5 (KJV): “To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” :::
