Someone leaving your life does not mean your life has come to an end. People may leave, relationships may change, and seasons may close, but God remains faithful and your purpose remains alive.

Scripture

John 21:21–22 KJV – “Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.”

Reflection

There are times people leave, and it hurts so deeply. A friend may walk away; a relationship may end; and someone you trusted may choose another path; you may feel rejected, forgotten or replaced, but do not die because they left!

When Peter became distracted by Judas’s journey, Jesus brought him back to his own assignment: “Follow thou me.” Your life cannot stop because someone else’s journey has changed. You may have loved them, served them, supported them and genuinely wanted them to remain; but if they choose to leave, let them go without abandoning your purpose. Do not spend the rest of your life trying to prove your worth to someone who has decided to walk away.¹

Church-in-Accra

Some people are for a season, some are for a reason, and some will remain for the journey; but your destiny must never be tied to the decision of another person.²

Cry if you must; grieve if you must; learn what you must; but get up and keep following Jesus! What they left did not take everything God put inside you. You are still alive. Your calling is still alive. Your future is still alive. Let us learn to press on and press hard to fulfill your purpose.³

Prayer

Father, heal every wound caused by rejection and separation. Give me grace to release those who have left without bitterness, and courage to continue pursuing Your purpose. Help me to stop looking back and keep following You. Let no person’s departure make me abandon my destiny, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
