Being joined to the Lord is a profound mystery of our salvation: mortal men and women, through union with Christ, can become one spirit with the immortal God. This union must shape how we live, think, worship, and use our bodies.
“But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.” — 1 Corinthians 6:17 KJV
What an extraordinary mystery! Through Christ, we are brought into a spiritual union and fellowship with God that human effort could never achieve. We do not become God, but by His Spirit we are joined to the Lord and participate in the life He gives. The Holy Spirit dwells within us, making our bodies His temple and bringing us into living communion with Christ.1
This truth should transform how you see yourself. You are not called to face temptation, weakness, ministry, or life’s battles merely in human strength. The Spirit of God dwells in you. As you yield to Him, He produces His fruit in you, strengthens your inner man, renews your mind, and empowers you to walk according to God’s will.2
Paul places this revelation in the context of sexual purity. If you are joined to the Lord, your body cannot be treated carelessly. Flee fornication and every form of sexual immorality.3 Honour God with your body, thoughts, relationships, and choices.4 Your union with Christ is both a privilege and a call to holiness.
Live conscious of your union with Christ! Abide in Him through prayer, His Word, worship, obedience, and fellowship with His Spirit. May the reality of being joined to the Lord fill you with strength, purity, courage, and an overwhelming consciousness of His presence.
- Father, deepen my consciousness of my union with Christ.
- Holy Spirit, strengthen me to walk in purity and obedience.
- Lord, let Your life and power be revealed through me today.
