The only way to kick the devil out is to resist him steadfastly in the faith. Without steadfast faith, no one can successfully resist the devil or maintain spiritual ground.
Scripture
1 Peter 5:8–9 KJV – “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith…”
Reflection
The devil means business! He is not your friend, and he is not looking for a casual relationship with you. He is your adversary, and his agenda is to steal, kill and destroy.1 Do not give him room! If you give him an inch, he will seek to take a mile. If you tolerate what God has commanded you to resist, what begins as a small opening can become a dangerous foothold. Do not entertain what you should be resisting!
The Bible does not tell us to negotiate with the devil. It says, “Whom resist stedfast in the faith.” You kick the devil out by standing your ground in faith. You resist his lies with the Word, resist his temptations with obedience, resist his attacks with prayer, and resist his pressure with unwavering confidence in God.
This is the time to draw the line and declare: “Satan, get lost! You have no place here!” Guard your heart, guard your home, guard your faith, and guard your spiritual territory. Do not allow the enemy to come anywhere close.
Receive grace to resist him steadfastly in the faith! You were not called to accommodate the devil; you were called to withstand him and stand firm in Christ.2
Prayer
Father, strengthen my faith and make me sober and vigilant. Give me grace to resist the devil steadfastly and refuse every foothold he seeks to gain in my life. I declare that Satan has no place in my life, my family, my calling or my future. I receive grace to stand firm in faith and overcome every attack of the enemy, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
